Welcome to the Class 4 home page, where we have a mix of Year 5 and Year 6 children. I am very excited to be your teacher this year and I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you, alongside our lovely teaching assistants; Mrs Newbury, Mr Huning and Mrs Sydenham.
In Class 4, we will be focusing on developing your skills and knowledge in a variety of subjects, including English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, and more. We will also be working on critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills to help you succeed in your academic journey.
I believe that learning should be fun and engaging, so I will do my best to make our lessons interesting and interactive. It is important to me that you feel comfortable asking questions and sharing your thoughts, so please don't hesitate to speak up during our discussions.
Most of our class updates throughout term time can be found on our Class Dojo page. I am here to support you in any way I can, so if you ever need help or have any concerns, please don't hesitate to come and talk to me. Let's work together to make this a successful and enjoyable school year.
PE
Our PE lessons will take place on a Tuesday and a Thursday this year. Children are invited to wear appropriate school PE kit to school on these days. We would ask that any earrings or jewellery are removed before these lessons. Should a change to the timetable occur, this will be signposted on Class Dojo.
Homework and Reading
Homework is set on a Friday, ready to be returned by the following Wednesday. The children will receive a piece of Maths, Reading or Grammar each week and on occasion more than one piece may be set. Children will also bring home a set of spellings to learn each week, ready to be tested on the following Friday.
It is advised that the children read at home at least 4 times a week. This should be recorded in the children's home reading journal and signed by an adult when they have had the chance to listen to their child.
Forest School
This year, Class 4 will be carrying out their Forest School sessions in Term 3 (After Christmas). On these days we would ask that the children dress appropriately, considering the time of year and weather forecast. Come rain or shine, Mr Edwards loves to get us out in the fresh air so please do ensure you're wearing the correct clothing.
